Battle report - [UW] Attack - 01/06
By Luke This Battle with 300 pts followed scenario “Attack” downloadable from the Download Section. Once again Syntha has to face Koralon Herd. Target was to capture one of enemy zone (yellow areas on the map). Maximum victory point is earned if zone cleared of enemy. Detachments Syntha Army 1 Achilles cal 2 Ach 1 Hercules cal 1 Her 1 Prometheus Plasma Projector Armor +1(as promised) Pp 2 Teratosynth Heavy Pulse Rifle Thp 4 Androsynth Grape Gun & Shield AG Koralon Army 1 BroodMaster with scythed talons cal 2 BM 1 Phazon cal 2 P 2 Larvan cal 1 L 1 BroodLeader cal 1 BL 4 Brood cal 0 B 1 Breeder cal 0 G 3 Skull Swarms SS Turn 1 Deployment is similar on both sides. Units were spreaded on the whole table width. During this first turn both armies advanced. Group led by the BroodMaster reached the bunker. BroodLeader group went to the board center. The Breeder and her escort went forward too. Phazon stood behind. Syntha didn’t stay static. On the right a Teratosynth and an Androsynth climb on the Tank Complex to get better lines of sight. ![]() The Tank Complex ![]() Turn 2 The first Larvan understood he was in a bad situation, and hide himself behind the central building. BroodMaster stood near the bunker. The last Larvan rushed forward to provide an exit for the portal. Seeing Hercules approaching, Skull Swarms rushed to meet him, followed by a Brood. On the right a Brood went to the tower. Breeder went back. Phazon opened a portal between Broods and Larvan (Lock Fire: 2 CD test successful: + 4 inches). Broods went through and put space between them (they’re not totally stupid: there is a plasma projector in front). Prometheus and Hercules advanced. Others Syntha missed their shots, except an Androsynth who killed an incoming Brood. ![]() Turn 3 Prometheus made few steps and throw a few litres of plasma on the Brood and the Larvan who didn’t survive. The BroodLeader charged at his prey and inflicted a wound at the Prometheus. He was attacked by an Androsynth who was following Achilles, but he killed him easily. The Brood attacked Androsynths behind tank traps. But this time was a bad end for the Koralon. Hercules charged at the Larvan : no wound on any side. Skull Swarms reached Hercules and stunned him. At this moment the Larvan chose to attack Hercules and killed him. Achilles hurt the BroodMaster and, with his bonus actions, dived behind a wall. During Lock Fire Phase, a Teratosynth looked for a Line of Sight. On the right the Androsynth went down from the Tank, a Brood approached the Larvan and the last one reached the tower. ![]() Turn 4 Prometheus managed to get off the fight. But the BroodLeader didn’t let him go too far and killed him. Achilles shot at the BroodMaster with no result. The Koralon leader, out of charge range, turned around the tank traps. The Phazon created a portal to provide support to the BroodMaster by sending the Larvan and a Brood. The Larvan died during this action. On the right Sull Swarms, newly borned, advanced. The Androsynth sought a line of sight with no success because the Brood was in contact with the tower. As soon as the Androsynth finished his move, the Brood rushed toward the enemy zone. The Teratosynth, anticipating a problem, went down the stairs. ![]() Turn 5 The Phazon was activated first. He opened a portal in front of the BroodMaster, and placed the exit near the Brood on the right. The BroodMaster, taking advantage that the Brood was locking both Androsynths in a fight, attacked the Teratosynth through the portal. The Teratosynth didn’t resist to him. The Brood who have locked both Androsynths payed it by its life. On the right the last Brood charged at the Androsynth. Skull Swarms try to stun him but with no success. After a distance measure and a few computations, the Achilles decided to make an attempt to reach the Koralon zone. This will be difficult because he would have to succeed all his follow-on actions to get there and gain the draw. Turn 6 The Teratosynth went backward and tried to shoot at the BroodMaster : no wound. The BroodMaster made a few steps to be clearly in the Syntha zone. The Phazon sent the Breeder near the BroodMaster. The Androsynth killed the last Brood. Achilles missed one follow-on test and never reached the Koralon zone. AFTERTHOUGHTS Very interesting scenario. Both sides have to move in order to win. An all-in-defence play style doesn’t give any advantage (2 zones to protect). You really have to consider both aspects: attack and defence (even if, with my Koralon, I haven’t tried a lot to defend). The tactic of “I teleport my BroodMaster at the last moment” has let my opponent stunned. He was really thinking I will try to make a real carnage. For this type of scenario, where mobility is essential, a Phazon is capital. On Syntha side a Prometheus with a plasma projector hurts a lot: shoot it down or engage it quickly! As for previous battles I will say that Syntha know how to hold a line. My opponent regrets he didn’t take a few speculation shot units. A few “explosive pies” would have made his life harder (Oh No ! My Phazon !). ![]() Please subscribe to Urban Zone newsletter to get updates'notifications.
